An Anechoic Radio Frequency (RF) Chamber
Tampere University has issued a tender for the design, construction, and commissioning of a dedicated anechoic radio‑frequency (RF) chamber and adjacent control room within the Sähkötalo building on the Hervanta campus. The chamber will serve the Tampere Wireless Research Center’s Wireless Infrastructure and Communications Operations (WICO) environment, enabling over‑the‑air antenna measurements and experimental validation of current and emerging wireless communication systems. Precise spatial layouts and existing measurement equipment specifications are provided in the tender appendices to guide the integration of the chamber into the existing research infrastructure.
To ensure that the installation meets all required spatial and environmental conditions, the selected contractor must conduct an on‑site survey promptly after contract signing, coordinating access with the main construction contractor during the ongoing building renovation. The renovation is slated for completion in late April 2027, with chamber construction scheduled to begin in early May 2027 and to be completed within the spring‑to‑summer 2027 timeframe, contingent upon the timely completion of renovation works. The procurement process includes mandatory construction site safety training for all personnel accessing the site.
All design and fabrication work must adhere to the applicable Finnish and European standards for anechoic chambers, including IEC 62262 for operating frequency ranges and noise attenuation performance requirements.
