SETsquared Framework For Mentors

The University of Bath, in partnership with SETsquared, is establishing a set of framework agreements to secure access to experienced and qualified suppliers who will provide high‑quality mentoring and business support services. The framework is structured into seven distinct lots, each focusing on a specific industry sector: Advanced Manufacturing (including aerospace, automotive, agri‑tech and advanced materials), Clean Energy (offshore wind, hydrogen, grid upgrades, carbon capture and decarbonised freight corridors), Creative Industries (arts and culture, advertising, architecture, design, publishing, film, television, music and video game development), Digital and Technologies (AI, cyber security, advanced connectivity, engineering biology, quantum technologies and semiconductors), Defence (defence technologies, advanced sensing, autonomous systems and secure communications), Life Sciences (pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical technologies, diagnostics and health data innovation), and General (financial services, professional and business services and other sectors not covered by the previous six lots). Each lot opens a range of call‑offs throughout the contract term, enabling the University to respond flexibly to emerging mentoring needs across a broad spectrum of researchers, academics, entrepreneurs, founders and businesses.

The services required range across a variety of core business support areas: Customer and Market Discovery; Branding and Marketing; Sales, Growth and Impact; Communicating and Pitching; Finance, Operations and Governance; Raising Equity Investment; Founder Leadership; Scaling; and Legal, Intellectual Property and Regulations. The University intends to appoint multiple suppliers per lot to ensure diverse expertise and capacity, and will invoke call‑offs in accordance with the established procedures to secure tailored support as demands arise. Eligibility will be assessed on a quality‑first basis, though price will also play a significant role (60 % quality, 40 % price).

All successful suppliers must demonstrate relevant experience in the assigned sector, possess qualifications appropriate to providing entrepreneurial and business coaching, and be capable of delivering outcomes that align with industry best practice standards.

The University of Bath & SETsquared is seeking to establish a Framework Agreement for the provision of mentoring and business support services.
The Framework will provide the University with access to suitably experienced and qualified Suppliers capable of delivering specialist mentoring and business support to a range of individuals and organisations, including researchers, academics, entrepreneurs, founders and businesses.
The Framework is divided into seven Lots covering Advanced Manufacturing, Clean Energy Industries, Creative Industries, Digital and Technologies, Defence, Life Sciences, and General sectors.
Services include support across the following business support areas: Customer and Market Discovery; Branding and Marketing; Sales, Growth and Impact; Communicating and Pitching; Finance, Operations and Governance; Raising Equity Investment; Founder Leadership; Scaling; and Legal, Intellectual Property and Regulations.
The University intends to appoint multiple Suppliers to each Lot. Requirements arising during the Framework term will be called off in accordance with the Call-Off procedures set out within the tender documents.
