Transportation of Deceased Remains

The Business Services Organisation (BSO) is seeking contracted providers to deliver the transportation of deceased remains to meet the requirements of Health and Social Care (HSC) in Northern Ireland. The tender is issued as a recurrent procurement and covers a five‑year period for which providers may be engaged for additional 24‑month extensions, allowing an adaptable service that can respond to fluctuating demand. The coordinating body, the Procurement and Logistics Service (PaLS), will award contracts in separate lots that correspond to the distinct regional health trusts.

For each of the five health and social care trusts—Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, Western Health and Social Care Trust, Southern Health and Social Care Trust, and Northern Health and Social Care Trust—the tender calls for transport arrangements capable of moving deceased individuals swiftly, securely, and with respect for dignity. Each lot specifies the same core service requirement: the efficient and compliant relocation of remains to the appropriate facilities or burial sites, ensuring continuity of care and adherence to statutory death‑related protocols.

All service providers must operate in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act and related regulations, and must maintain the confidentiality, safety, and dignity of the remains throughout transit.
