Allerton High Level Access Platform

Northern Trains Limited is seeking a single supplier to construct full‑length high‑level access platforms at the Allerton depot, specifically for use alongside its Classes 323, 768 and 331 rolling stock and any future fleets that operate from the site. The platforms will be installed on a single road to enhance operational flow and safety within the Planned Heavy Clean area, enabling secure work at height across the entire length of four‑car trains. The design, provided by RCA Construction, requires the integration of comprehensive safety systems, including barriers, fall‑protection devices and appropriate safety signage to protect staff.

In addition to the standard safety features, the platforms must incorporate a safe method for removing roof‑mounted components such as HVAC units, thereby minimising manual handling risks. They must also interface seamlessly with the depot’s overhead line equipment isolation system and the depot protection system, ensuring that the platforms can only be accessed when the overhead electrical supply has been fully isolated. The construction will be performed under a JCT Intermediate Works with Contractor’s Design 2024 contract form.

The platforms must permit safe removal of roof‑mounted HVAC units while preventing manual handling risk and must only become usable when overhead power has been fully isolated.

Kent Test (11+) Examination Services

Kent County Council is inviting proposals from a qualified provider to deliver its annual Kent-wide 11+ Examination Services, a key mechanism for selecting candidates in the top 25 % of the ability range for admission to the county’s grammar schools. The service will support the approximate 19,000 candidates who participate each year, a mix of local pupils and external entrants, and will be fully integrated into the Council’s existing testing framework. The contractor will be responsible for the comprehensive design, production and implementation of all examination components, ensuring that they comply with the Council’s requirements for reliability, security and accessibility.

Key deliverables include the creation of generic test familiarisation materials for schools and parents, bespoke confidential paper tests and accompanying multiple‑choice answer sheets engineered for rapid accuracy when processed by consumer‑grade scanners, and the production of double‑sided, bar‑coded answer sheets that record pupil data. The provider will also supply a suite of software tools—including digital marking, standardisation, and printable standardisation tables—alongside tailored training and support for Council staff throughout the entire testing cycle. In addition to meeting quality and social value criteria, the contractor must ensure that the answer sheets are printable, bar‑coded, double‑sided, scannable by consumer‑grade scanners.

Newport City Council is opening a multi‑lot procurement framework to support the delivery of private‑sector housing adaptations for owner‑occupied domestic dwellings across the UKL21 area. The framework will provide a pre‑approved list of contractors from which the council will request tenders for a range of services spanning general building works, plumbing and heating, stairlift and lift installation, repairs, external ramping, asbestos surveying, architectural, and structural engineering services. The aim is to ensure rapid, high‑quality adaptation solutions for individuals requiring accessible housing, with supply chain arrangements covering both new installations and maintenance.

The contracting requirements include the provision of ramped access and groundwork for external platform lifts, structural modifications such as door widening and loft conversions, and the fitting of ground‑floor WC and bathroom or bedroom extensions. Lift services cover internal, external, and through‑floor lifts from specified manufacturers, all with a two‑year parts and labour guarantee even if not serviced, and call‑out repair services that must provide same‑day or three‑hour emergency response. External modular ramping must be galvanised steel, compliant with BS 4592 and 6399 for load testing and BS 7976 for slip resistance. Architectural and structural engineers will deliver full planning and building regulation plans and structural calculations within ten working days. National Framework Agreement for Provision of Biomedical and Clinical Research Support

The National Framework Agreement for the Provision of Biomedical and Clinical Research Support establishes a comprehensive suite of services aimed at strengthening the research capacity of Public Sector Organisations throughout the United Kingdom. The framework covers every phase of the research lifecycle, including the design, delivery and management of clinical trials, the collection, analysis and reporting of biomedical data, and the overall logistics required to move and store samples. By providing a single point of access to these diverse functions, the framework enables hospitals, universities and other research entities to streamline coordination and ensure consistent methodological quality across all projects.

Within the agreement, five distinct lots deliver targeted capabilities: (1) transportation and temperature‑controlled storage of research samples; (2) on‑site and off‑site sample processing; (3) secure storage solutions for biological material; (4) end‑to‑end design, data management and analytical services; and (5) full research lifecycle support combining the earlier services into an integrated offering. Each lot is predicated on stringent technical standards, with quality weighted at 80% in the award criteria, and will be subject to renewal every two years under an eight‑year open framework. All services must adhere to relevant biomedical research quality and safety standards.

Online Payments

The Education Authority is seeking a comprehensive online payment solution for use by schools across Northern Ireland, positioning the system as a secure, user‑friendly alternative to the prevailing cash and cheque handling methods. The platform will enable parents to make electronic payments for a broad range of school‑related items and activities—including meals, milk, school trips, clubs, and equipment purchases—throughout the duration of the contract. By transitioning to a digital payment model, the Authority aims to minimise the risks, complications and costs associated with physical money handling while maintaining accessibility for all parents and guardians.

The procurement will encompass the design, implementation, and ongoing delivery of the payment service, including system integration with existing school administrative systems, rigorous testing, detailed reporting, and staff training. The solution will be deployed across a variety of school types, from primary to post‑primary, special, and independent institutions, subject to the Education Authority’s discretion and any requisite business case approvals. The contract, which will run for five years with options for up to 24‑month extensions, should adhere to all applicable data protection and payment security standards.
